He demanded thought, commanded respect and generated laughter. I will miss George Carlin's insight, logic, command of the language and sense of humor.
"Save the planet? We don't even know how to take care of ourselves yet. We haven't learnt how to care for one another...we're gonna save the fuckin' planet???".....
...."The planet isn't going anywhere---we are"
Thanks George. Your recordings saw me through, amongst other things, many a long drive including a solo one across most of the country.

Yer words are good AnonM-they echo my feelings.
My fav of Carlin was about STUFF;

You picked another routine off his beaten path, good one.
We've lost too many lately . . . BIG voices, like Utah Phillips.
Those who painted our psyche's full of a potential LONG past the 50's black and grey history's handed to us boomers.
Dawg bless them, one and all . . . and let's recall what the Utah's told us about history from 1890's thru his end . . . it's fitting to match that up with Carlin, and see who's screwing who.
Harumph.
Larue,
So many favorites from Carlin....Stuff, Religion, Football/Baseball, War, Airlines....all the big ones. Then the smaller pieces that were just as great....pigeons in NYCity, playing the dozens, easter duty, suppressed laughter, listening to a baseball game with Spanish commentary....virtually his entire body of work is classic.
I'm not very familiar with Utah Phillips' work but will look him up now.
