Some advice for the Steelers

/

My dear Steelers,
Do not stop now. You are on an incredible roll. Before the season started, I suspected strongly that there were some brain-fart games in store. After blowing the Chicago game and the first Cinci game, I figured, "Well, there're your brain-farts". I also figured that we'd find out how good or bad this year was really gonna be. I really thought that ol' Omar Epps would get a serious fire lit under the team. Well, it was looking promising there for a couple of weeks....but it is now obvious that this is not a good football team. The O-line is bad, defense can't hold a 4th qtr lead, the special teams are beyond horrible and even the QB play is spotty.

Now, after this stellar run of losing to KC, Oakland and Cleveland, you are faced with a tremendous opportunity. Don't blow it. I heard some alarming things after last night's loss, about how you were gonna play for pride and all that garbage. Don't freaking do it. I think we can all agree that the time for pride has long passed (losing to KC, Oak and Cle; giving up non-off TDs for 8 weeks in a row; blowing a bunch of 4th qtr leads etc took care of all that pride crap)--- now is the time for strategic planning. Keep this roll going and finish 6-10. It is not that hard to do because the last 3 games are eminently losable. Heck, any game is eminently losable this year. I know that you can dig down deep to find a way to blow three more games. Finish 6-10, get a top-10 draft pick, and trade up if necessary to draft Ndamokung Suh or Eric Berry or Russell Okung or Rolando McClain. Then at least we'd gotten something out of this year's incredible efforts.

Yeah Scrib50,
It is hard to imaging how this team went into such a skid. But the facts remain what they are---this is a fundamentally flawed team. Ben has covered up for the O-line far too many times including last year. The 'experts' bray on about how he should not take these sacks but if he threw it away or tossed INTs they'd be braying about how he needs to make plays---these are the same idiots who elevated Eli Manning to highest paid QB status, after all. Anyway, the O-line has stunk for a while--when is the last time the Steelers NEEDED one yard and you or I were reasonably confident they could run for it? The special teams are porous---how do you let teams score PR and KR TDs game after game after game? And the defensive secondary has always been mediocre, except that Polamalu has been covering up a ton of those warts---without him, they are clearly toast. The pass rush is not nearly as fearsome as it once was---Smith being gone doesn't help the D-line overall.
What surprises me is that Tomlin couldn't get them to overcome all that against some mediocre teams. Losing three 4th qtr leads to Oakland just shows lack of focus and will, that is all. This was what I was afraid of, post-Superbowl. Teams just lose some edge, and that lost edge loses them games.
And yes, Ward needs to shut the hell up. What the hell was he doing questioning Ben's toughness last week?

CPP,
I'll tolerate your AHHHAHAHA-ing if your Iggles can beat Eli and the Gints and keep them out of then playoffs. At this point I'd rather see the damn Cowboys win another title than see that overrated piece of crap fortunate son win another.
I also appreciate that you thoughtfully put in one 'AH' for each Superbowl title that the Steelers have won so far---that thought did make me feel better!
